| Local legend has it that Louis Armstrong lived here when he was 11 years old, and that at the time it was called the Waifs Home for Colored Boys, or the Colored Waifs Home. Other sources claim that Mr. Louis never lived here and that the Waifs Home was another facility entirely. |

| Unfortunately, these buildings were much more interesting outside than they were inside.Building A is storage for the community garden, Building B was completely gutted, and the Main house had been "updated" circa 1980 and was a nightmare of acoustic tile, wallboard,functional concrete and non interest. We did not have the opportunity to check the upper floors, but since the main house is not exactly challenging to enter, we'll be going back shortly to explore the upper levels and hopefully discover something a little more exciting. |
